Available weekdays, evenings, Sundays Laura began studying classical violin at the age of eight in New York, and from age eleven through high school, she studied violin under Boris Koutzen who was head of the violin department at Vassar College. While attending college, she continued her violin training at the University of Michigan. Laura became interested in Middle Eastern music in the mid-seventies. Her enthusiasm led her to direct a Middle Eastern ensemble for two years. She started playing Celtic music in the early nineties. Laura is an experienced teacher who is very attentive to her students. Her warmth quickly puts both children and adults at ease. She makes the lessons fun, as well as challenging, and her students are eager to learn as a result. Laura inspires her students to do well and play music from the heart. Classical students use Suzuki as well as supplementary materials. Reading music is taught the first year, but it is combined with a strong emphasis on ear training and proper technique. Fiddle students learn tunes by ear; music is provided for future reference. Laura's versatility,
experience and congenial personality translate into her being very much
in demand as a violin and fiddle teacher. Laura
